Hotspot Formation and Its Impact on Hydrogen Production in Proton Exchange Membrane Water Electrolysers (PEMWEs)

12:00 PM - 12:15 PM

Abstract

I am Anie Shejoe Justin Jose Sheela, and I am pursuing a PhD in Chemical and Materials Engineering at the University of Auckland. My research focuses on PEMWE and PEMFC, developing innovative materials to enhance efficiency and durability. Passionate about experimental work, I designed and modelled a lab-scale PEM cell to optimise performance and prevent degradation (hotspots). With a chemistry and materials science background, I aim to advance sustainable hydrogen production and clean energy technologies. My work reflects a strong commitment to innovation and practical solutions for a sustainable future in the energy sector.
Alex Keltie
Phd Candidate
The University Of Adelaide

Sonolytic and Photocatalytic Degradation of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances

12:15 PM - 12:30 PM

Abstract

Alex graduated from The University of Adelaide in 2020 from his Bachelor of Science (Advanced) (Honours). Following that he worked at Intertek, testing agricultural produce for pesticides, heavy metals and toxins, along with any other tests required. Alex returned to The University of Adelaide in 2024 to conduct research into upscaling a PFAS remediation process for Enviropacific Services, aiming to capture and completely destroy PFAS from contaminated sites. He enjoyed this research so much, that in 2025, he decided to start his PhD, looking at advanced catalytic reduction processes for the breakdown of PFAS.
